The High Desert, illuminated.

Lefty is a Bend, Oregon-based artist and designer who transforms foraged tumbleweeds into sculptural light fixtures. With a background in sustainable upcycling and a passion for wild landscapes, Lefty founded TumbleGlow to merge organic materials with modern design. Each piece is a tribute to nature’s imperfection, meticulously crafted to bring warmth, shadowplay, and storytelling into interior spaces.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Hi, I’m Lefty, the artist behind TumbleGlow. I live and work in Bend, Oregon, where the high desert winds carry tumbleweeds across vast, sun-washed landscapes. One day, I picked one up — weathered, wild, and beautiful — and wondered: could this forgotten fragment of nature become a fixture for someone’s home?
TumbleGlow was born from that question.
Each light begins with a tumbleweed I gather by hand from the land surrounding Bend. After hours of cleaning, shaping, and sealing with fire-retardant and polyurethane, I transform it into a functional, one-of-a-kind fixture. The result is not just lighting — it’s sculpture. It’s shadow. It’s elegant yet playful.
This work is deeply personal. It connects my love for natural textures with a minimalist design sensibility. I believe in honoring materials as they are, celebrating imperfection, and finding wonder in the overlooked.
TumbleGlow fixtures are made to inspire — whether hanging above a dining table, glowing in a quiet studio, or anchoring the heart of a creative space. Every piece holds the wildness of the desert, softened by design, and finished by hand.
Thank you for supporting handmade, local art.
